Princeton, MN (June 6) – Racers, Fans and families flocked to the Princeton Speedway Friday night for some WISSOTA Dirt Track Race action. At the night’s end, Dylan Kromschroeder, Tyler Larson, Russell Kiker, Jr., and Jason VandeKamp got wins while Adam Bohlman and Thomas Worth earned their first ever WISSOTA feature wins.
The HyTech Automotive WISSOTA Street Stocks took the clay with Kyle Howland and Trent Keller on row one. A caution slowed the cars off the start, however as the race resumed Kyle Howland snagged the lead. Thomas Worth slid into the second point and quickly chased down Howland. Tommy Pogones went from eighth to third, and looked ahead at the leaders who were door to door for first. Worth and Howland were glued to one another a few laps until Worth sped away with the lead. The checkers waved with Kyle Howland, Tommy Pogones, Rachel Boston, and Trent Keller in points two through five, while Thomas Worth earned his first feature win ever.
Dylan Kromschroeder snagged the immediate lead as the Zoomies Race Engines WISSOTA Super Stocks took the green, with Jeff Frey and Dustin Nelson in tow. A couple cautions reset the field, but Kromschroeder remained in command. Dustin Nelson took second while Joey Jensen and Max Nelson battled for third. Jensen took third and chased down Nelson as Kromschroeder stretched his lead to over 2.5 seconds. Jensen slid to the inside of Nelson and they were nose to nose for a few laps until Jensen broke away with the point. With only one lap remaining, Joey Jensen settled for second with Dylan Kromschroeder grabbing the win. Dustin Nelson, Kris Peterson and Cameron Labelle rounded out the top five points.
Thomas Burgad and Ashton Schwinn brought the East Central Sports WISSOTA Mod Fours around the bullring, and when the green waved, Schwinn snagged the lead. Burgaard, Blake Hawker and Tyler Larson raced three-wide for second, while another group of three battled to their rears. Schwinn continued to stretch his lead to over 2 seconds, until a caution waved and the drivers were slowed. Schwinn retained his lead on the restart, with everyone else door to door for points. Cautions kept the Mod Fours at a slow and go pace, but the finals laps were filled with excitement as Larson and Schwinn were side by side. Schwinn nosed out the lead each lap, but as they came to the checkers, Schwinn’s #18 spun in the exit of turn four, and Tyler Larson sped off for the win. Remaining top points went to Connor Bruss, Robert Holtquist, Gerald Nohner and Blake Hawker.
The Dirt Race Central WISSOTA Modifieds took the green with Clayton Wagamon and Adam Bohlman on row one. The top drivers remained side by side the opening laps, but a caution quickly slowed the pack. Bohlman immediately stretched his lead as the green reappeared with Wagamon in second and Dave Cain in third. Another caution reset the field, but Bohlman remained in command with Wagamon eagerly chasing the #25. The top two drivers had a solid lead over the competition, and Adam Bohlman grabbed the checkers and his first ever Modified feature win. Clayton Wagamon, Zach Benson, JT Johnson and Travis Schulte finished in points two through five respectively.
Tony Jenson and Russell Kiker, Jr. brought the WISSOTA Hornets around the clay and Jenson grabbed the early lead. Kiker, Jr. remained glued to Jenson the opening laps, and after a battle, Kiker, Jr. slid into the top point. Laps passed without any issues, and as the checkers waved Tony Jenson, Randy Jacoboski, Brady Fosso and Nathaniel Kinne finished second through fifth and Russell Kiker, Jr. grabbed the win.
The Crystal Cabinets WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds closed out the night’s program with a full field of drivers taking the green. A few cautions kept the racers slow, but when they got to turn some laps, VandeKamp took command with Mitch Weiss and Paul Ripley door to door for second. Weiss slid to VandeKamp’s door after a caution reset the field, but VandeKamp retained the lead. Weiss held second with Ripley and Ryan Putnam in top points. Weiss and Ripley kept after VandeKamp lap after lap, however Jason VandeKamp held his line and took the win. Remaining top points went to Paul Ripley, Mitch Weiss, Cole Boston and Dustin Nelson.
Next Friday will be a fun night at the Princeton Speedway as the UMSS Traditional and Winged Sprint Cars make a stop by the track, along with the Northern Vintage Stock Cars. Racing will resume at 7:00pm with WISSOTA Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and Hornets in action, along with the MN Micro Sprints.
